It was the second time I was in Miami during Art Basel and I was shooting for different clients and magazines there. I am always a bit overwhelmed when you enter the big convention center and step into a world full of heavy weight art and galleries. At the same time I always feel like a tourist entering territory I don’t really belong to. This one morning I realized that this feeling didn’t came from my lack of knowledge about the art world. It much more came from the attitude most the gallery owners have when they scan you in the second you are passing by their space. You are only part of the deal if you have value as a buyer it seems. If you fall through this grid you are entering a cold world of disinterest. At least it seems like it’s a very boring world.
